Standing Seam Zinc and Copper Roofing in Sussex

Mascot Roofing installs fully supported standing-seam zinc and copper roofing and cladding across Sussex and the wider South East. The system can create clean lines on roofs, walls, dormers and complex architectural details.

Standing seams join formed metal trays while allowing the covering to respond to temperature changes. The visible finish depends on precise setting out, consistent seams and carefully fabricated edges, flashings and penetrations.

Standing-seam applications

Standing-seam metal can be used on low-pitched roofs, curved areas, dormers, loft conversions, fascias, soffits and wall cladding. Zinc and copper each weather differently and should be selected for the project design, environment and desired appearance.

Design and installation considerations

The metal covering must be supported by a suitable substrate and integrated with the roof’s insulation, vapour control and ventilation strategy.

  • A roof build-up designed for the building and metal system.
  • Tray widths, clips and seams suited to geometry and wind exposure.
  • Allowance for thermal movement.
  • Careful detailing at eaves, ridges, abutments, outlets and penetrations.

Repairs and refurbishment

Leaks may result from damaged seams, incompatible earlier repairs, failed interfaces or problems in the supporting build-up. Investigation should consider the whole detail rather than only the visible wet area.

Local metalwork can sometimes be repaired or replaced, but widespread installation defects may require a coordinated refurbishment design.

Our approach

  1. Review the roof or cladding area, location, drawings and required finish.
  2. Inspect the existing construction or proposed supporting build-up.
  3. Discuss suitable materials, details and installation options.
  4. Provide a clear quotation for the agreed scope.
  5. Fabricate and install the metalwork with close attention to seams and interfaces.

Areas we cover

Mascot Roofing undertakes suitable metal-roofing projects in Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath and across Sussex, with wider coverage in Surrey, Kent and London. Send the postcode and an outline of the project so we can confirm coverage.

standing-seam roofing questions

Can standing seam be used on a low-pitched roof?

Often, yes, but minimum pitch and detailing depend on the selected system and project specification.

What is the difference between zinc and copper?

They have different appearances, weathering characteristics and detailing requirements. The best choice depends on design, location and budget.
