Pitched Roofing
Tiling
From modern interlocking tiles through to traditional peg tiles, pitched roofing is elegantly simple, which is why it’s survived for several thousand years. Whether you require a solid, robust and attractive new roof for your new build, or decide to completely replace your existing one, Mascot Roofing Limited are able to cater to all your needs, offering quality workmanship at highly competitive rates.
Approved installers for Redland, Marley Eternit, Sandtoft, Keymer, Sahtas.
Slating
Mascot Roofing Limited have extensive experience installing natural slate, using fixing methods such as copper nails and the more modern hook fixings. Both options help to deliver an attractive and high-performance result. We can also carry out work using synthetic slate. This material is manufactured from a variety of materials, including plastic, rubber, glass fibre, cement and slate chippings. Man-made slate imitates the beauty and unique appearance of natural stone, but at a lower cost.
Whether you’re looking for roof slating services for a new build property, or need some repairs on an existing roof, we can help. We work on both commercial and domestic projects, and conservation work.
Stone
Stone roofs are a significant feature of many historic buildings. To repair and conserve them successfully necessitates the use of appropriate traditional materials and techniques. A stone slate roof, providing it is well maintained, can last for at least a century and possibly much longer.
Stone types – Horsham Stone, Indian Stone, Reconstituted Stone.
Shingles and Shakes
Shingles and Shakes have been used for a wide range of structures from domestic dwellings to simple garden gazebos. Shingles and Shakes perform the same functions but are manufactured in different ways.
A Shingle is produced by sawing a block of wood on both sides, giving a relatively smooth face and back.
A Shake is hand split from a block of cedar along the natural grain of the wood and then resawn to produce one smooth surface. They can be used for both roofing and cladding. Cedar Shingles can be fixed to pitches as low as 14 degrees
FLAT ROOFING
A flat roof is a roof which is almost level in contrast to the many types of sloped roofs. The slope of a roof is properly known as its pitch and flat roofs have up to approximately 10° pitch.
There are several types of coverings that can be used on flat roofs.
Built Up Felt
Is a system of bitumen impregnated material ‘felt’ laid in 2 or 3 layers directly on top of either decking or insulation depending on project requirements. Usually the layers are bonded together by applying heat.
Single Ply
Single Ply is also known as Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) membranes or Spectraplan TPE are some of the most lightweight roofing solutions and can be laid on most roofing substrates. Single ply roof systems provide strength, flexibility, and long-lasting durability and heat welded not using a naked flame.
We can offer 15 to 20 year guarantees.
Liquid membrane
Hydrostop ALT25
AH-25 is an innovative one-component liquid waterproofing system which offers significant advantages over conventional systems. It can be applied under practically any conditions, including cold days above 0oC and on moist surfaces (7% or less). AH-25 is fast-curing and easy to apply. Its superior performance makes it ideal for any small scale, large commercial, new build or refurbishment projects.
AH-25 is based on alpha-hybrid, silane terminated polyether technology. Not only does it exceed most performance criteria of other liquid systems, including polyurethane and PMMA, it also eliminates many of the disadvantages of these products. AH-25 is grey in colour. Custom colours are available.
Icopal Enviroflex™
Icopal Enviroflex™ Liquid Waterproof Coating, is a single component polyurethane based, moisture curing coating. This system is typically applied in multiple layers in conjunction with a polyester reinforcing fleece. The Icopal Enviroflex™ features a vapour permeable design.
While traditionally, this system would be used in areas of limited foot traffic, should its use be required in a heavily trafficked area, then this is also possible. What makes this possible is the Enviroflex™ anti-skid walkway system. When used in conjunction with this system, the Icopal Enviroflex™ can serve as a reliable access route.
Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP)
GRP is a lightweight, extremely strong and robust material. It is less stiff and far less brittle than carbon fibre. Plus GRPs bulk strength and weight properties are also very favourable when compared to traditional metal alternatives. It is easily moulded into a wide variety of designs making it suitable for both standard and more bespoke applications.
One of the most durable forms of roofing systems used for flat roof surfaces. It’s also used as a weatherproofing solution. Ethylene and propylene are its two main ingredients which are sourced from natural gas and oil.
The material itself is available in either black or white and comes in a variety of widths, depending on the requirements needed for the installation. EPDM can be installed in three ways:
- Fully Adhered
- Ballasted
- Mechanically Attached.
Either liquid adhesives or special roofing tape is used to seal the seams of the roofing system.
Proteus Pro-system® is a high performance, seamless and cold applied waterproofing membrane for flat roofs, pitched roofs and is used as a waterproofing coating to Proteus’ built-up roof systems. It cures to provide completely seamless waterproof protection and has excellent thermal and UV stability, making it suitable to use in all climates.
Cold Melt® incorporates recycles rubber crumb and other organically grown products to create an elastomeric, seamless, cold applied membrane that can be applied to a wide range of substrates including concrete, asphalt, timber and metal. As it exhibits extremely low odour, Cold Melt® can also be applied in confined working spaces.
GREEN ROOFS
Green Roofs can vary from intensive roof gardens or extensive low maintenance planting such as sedum and indigenous herbs, grasses & wild flowers. A gravel border is usually stated in the design as an added fire protection. Sedum is emerging as a favourite as it is easily transported and requires little maintenance as it is a succulent plant which remains close to the ground throughout its growth, has mild roots which don’t damage the waterproofing membrane and changes colour in the seasons in greens, browns and purples to give a pleasing effect to the eye. Green roofs are laid as per the projects design requirements.
METAL ROOFING
This type of roof covering has fast become extremely popular, lasting 2-3 times longer than a non-metal roof, virtually maintenance free and resistant to cracking, shrinking and eroding.
Metal roofing is made up from layers of material that create a hard shell for the outside of your property, on roof and walls, that will protect the building against harsh weather conditions. For domestic house cladding, you can choose from a range of different materials that all have given different finishing looks, such as zinc, copper, stainless steel and aluminium in a variety of styles including standing seas, interlocking panels, shingles, reveal panels, overlapping panels, flat lock panels and many more.
Available in a choice of materials including:
Zinc – VMZinc, Rheinzink, Nedzink, elZinc.
Copper – KME, Aurubis
Aluminium – Falzinc, Falzonal, Alu-FX
Steel – Greencoat®PLX,
Bespoke rainwater and drainage systems – we are able to design, supply and install bespoke rainwater systems for specific design project requirements.
LEADWORK
Lead is usually used to provide a waterproof join between different areas of building construction. Lead can itself be used as a covering to flat roofs but is usually only done in small areas such as dormer or bay windows. Although it can be used to cover an entire roof, our lead fitting technicians are experienced in all forms of lead work.
